But, her voice will--most likely--return, so that the story can properly continue in the next volume. All opinions expressed here are my own. This series is becoming more and more angst ridden, and not in a good way. Just too much drama.
Too much. I'm also not a fan of this new weird dynamic between Shin and Maria. Shin is aware of Maria's psychological turmoil, and he decides he can't wait any longer and forces her to confront it in an awful way. Maria's reaction is that somehow she is to blame for everything. And Yusuke's inexplicably dropped out of pursuing Maria romantically he was the one I was cheering for, for starters, he's well, you know, normal as opposed to emo Shin with his father complex. It's all a big mess. Just, no.

I've read reviews by reviewers that I esteem who said that this is the best volume to date and how great it is that Maria's finally addressing her mental issues. My response is that first, her issues are way over the top drama drama drama to begin with and second, this was not a good way to handle it. Sep 09, Rach rated it really liked it Shelves: manga. It was great to see Maria come out if her shell in encouraging her classmates, and I'm so happy Shin finally decided to tell Maria the truth.
The sections after her flashback were hard to read, because both Maria and Shin were so depressed and blaming themselves for the situation. Add to that the fact that Maria couldn't talk and explain herself to Shin, it's a miracle they were able to come together in the end.

I'm glad Maria's other friends are there for her, too, and SO glad that Aya and Tomoyo went to her house and stopped her from hurting herself. With all she's been through in her childhood with her mom, and then with Anna, Maria really needs her friends around her to support her and reminder her that she's worth it, and deserves to be happy.
It will be interesting to see what happens with Shintaro. Yusuke seemed content to help Shin and Maria work it out and come together, but Shintaro seems intent on breaking them up. I was very glad that the misunderstanding between the two main characters resolved quickly, and I loved the argument they had, a very, very good and true one, where they both let themselves say everything, and then the figuring out how to make up afterwards was also well handled, it might have been another series of misunderstandings making the wedge but no, they both had very good will to The core of this series speaks to me so strongly, but there are times I get frustrated with the execution.

Maria's fragile memories are surfacing and causing her to hallucinate. Shin is conflict in this volume about whether to tell her his feelings or to back off. He eventually makes decisions on that. But is Maria able to handle it? Kurosu doesn't think so, and is thwarting their attempts. I have to wonder if Shin can help calm down her panic attacks or not? It's all getting very tense as harsh memories are starting to sink in for Maria.

Awesome depth of character portrayed in this volume, too. I still can't believe Shin did what he did Nov 15, Victoria rated it it was amazing. Is a great book to read.
